Understanding Categories

Categorizing your goods and services is a prerequisite to setting up your products. This is internal and only useful for our Reporting & Analytics.

While it's highly encouraged to take the extra time to categorize your products. If this level of granularity isn't of importance, create a 'catch-all' category that your products will nest into.

Below is a quick 1:45 video with a summary of everything discussed below.

Creating Categories

To begin, navigate to Products > Categories.

Following, click Actions > Add Category.

Naming Your Categories

Here we'll be prompted to provide a name and a description for our category. Let's say we're an apparel shop. Some of my categories may consist of;

  • T-Shirts

  • Pants

  • Socks

  • Beanies

Descriptions

Provide a unique description of this category. Generally, unless you have a very large number of categories, it's recommended to simply copy and paste the name in this field. It's internal and will not be visible to your customers.

And that's it! Now you can dive into setting up products. Step #3 - Configuring Your Products.

Below is a quick snapshot of how you can leverage our Reporting Tools to segment by Category.
