How to Create Billing Models

Welcome to Sticky.io. In this article, we'll walk through finding and creating every possible billing model. From your standard monthly and yearly subscriptions, to billing customers on a specific week and day of the month.

In a hurry? We've got you covered! Below is a video that will get you up to speed in no time. Conversely, written instructions of everything discussed in the video are below for your reference.

Navigating to Billing Models

From the left-hand navigation menu, click Products / Offers > Billing Models.

The Billing Models page shows your existing Active and Archived models. To create a new one, click New Model in the top-right corner.

Creating a New Billing Model

The foundation of your billing model starts with it's name. This is both internal and external. The name is something you customers can see if your configure and send emails from Sticky.io to your customers.

Once you've established the name, next is determining the subscription model type. There are 5 options to choose from.

By Cycle

• Bills the subscription every set number of days from the previous billing date.

• Best for simple recurring cycles such as every 7, 14, 30, or 60 days.

Every = Enter the number of days between each billing attempt.

By Date

• Bills on a fixed calendar day each month.

• For example, entering 15 bills the subscription on the 15th of each month.

• If a month has fewer days than the date selected, billing occurs on the last available day of that month.

Day of month = Choose the calendar date the subscription should bill each month.

By Day

• Bills on a specific occurrence of a weekday each month.

• This is useful for schedules such as the First Monday, Second Friday, or Last Tuesday of each month.

Occurrence = Choose which occurrence of the weekday should trigger billing, such as First or Second.

Weekday = Choose the day of the week the subscription should bill.

By Schedule

• Lets you choose specific calendar billing dates that repeat each year.

• Click Add date to add each billing date needed for the schedule.

Buffer days = Sets the grace period before a scheduled billing date.

Month and day = Choose the exact calendar dates that should be included in the billing schedule.

By Relative Date

• Calculates the billing interval relative to the start or end of a trial.

Billing Frequency = Choose how often the subscription should bill, such as every 1 month.

From Trial Start = Calculates billing relative to when the trial started.

From Trial End = Calculates billing relative to when the trial ended.

Lastly, Preserve quantity. If enabled, you keep the original quantity on every rebill instead of resetting it.

Saving Your Billing Model

Once you're satisfied with your changes, navigate to the top right of the screen under Summary and click Save Billing Model.

At this point, you should already have at least a single product and now a single billing model. You'll want to create an Offer to combine these two features. An offer is how you inform Sticky.io which products can be sold with what billing models.
